According to my impression, immigration seems to have further tighten down in Singapore. Most companies seem reluctant to sponsor EP. And all local companies require PRs. Is this true? Is anyone else having the same experience?

I would like to also know what my fellow Malaysians are encountering?

Employers are required to hire locals and/or PRs for all jobs where suitable candidates are available.

This has not changed, but possibly the availability of suitable, local candidates has?

In any case, the political climate against foreigners in Singapore has been tightening for years.

Agreed with Beppi. In future it’s going to be tightened further. From September onwards for new EPs and renewal of EPs will be going through a point based system.

On IT sector, currently it’s going through restructuring state. Most of the IT companies had hired in large numbers during covid. Now, situation is going back to normal so primarily they are reducing the bench strength and cutting their workforce in most of the divisions due to uncertainty in world economy (after collapsing of Credit Sussie, SVB and Signature Bank. Some negative news also floating around Deutsche Bank).
