unabridged birth certificate-South Africa

Post new topic

dowanjordaan

Hi everyone.

I found a job here in Mauritius and the company applied for an occupation permit for myself. The documents were submitted but immigration in Mauritius requested for my unabridged birth certificate in order to proceed with the application.

I contacted an agent in SA who applied for the certificate on my behalf. The agent in south Africa came back to me last week saying that my certificate had been issued but with the wrong details.

Does anyone have a contact in DHA in SA that may be able to sort this out as the agent is saying that the application has to been resubmitted and this could take between 8-12 weeks. I cannot wait this long.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get hold of Democratic Alliance Cape Town Branch. They helped speed up my birth certificate. They will deal with their Shadow Minister.  I don't think this is a quick fix to change a birth certificate but it can be done.  Unfortunately, I have forgotten the contact details.  Your other alternative is go visit the SA Embassy in Mauritius. You can also make contact with Nilena from Hault Ltd (they have a FB page).  She helped us with a Police Clearance problem and is really excellent.

We had the same problem. Both my wife’s and my birth certificate from SA had incorrect details on them. In our case it was my mothers date of birth which was wrong and my wife’s mothers details - which didn’t have an impact on anything. I guess in your case it depends on what details are wrong. If it’s your details then that’s a problem. It seems in those days they didn’t pay much attention to detail when hand writing these things.

@dowanjordaan you can check in South Africa embassy in Mauritius 🇲🇺.  If they can do something or take flight to South Africa and come back after your documents,  you can do your medical here in Mauritius 🇲🇺,  from south Africa you can send all documents to your company in Mauritius,  when your permit is ready then come to Mauritius.
