Financial matters

Hello, all. I have been in Cambodia for 7 weeks now from the US. I have a 6 month visa extension and now plan to look for an apartment in PP. I'm new at moving money from my US bank to ABA. I have a PayPal/Zoom account which transfers to Wing Bank. Then I'll transfer that to ABA.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a better way to do this? I'm still learning the ropes. How long does it usually take for the transactions to complete?

i have not been able to transfer from a U.S. Bank directly to ABA. Xoom will go to ABA though. We just did that yesterday. My girl friend went to get money. Then deposit in her ABA account. All US dollars. Otherwise I go to ABA and withdraw money from Schwab in the US. Then I deposit in ABA while at the bank. Schwab pays back international atm fees each month.

mostly we use one withdraw a month and then I put in my ABA account. Now my girl friend gives me allowance. Lol.

@mpmilestogo

WHAT….She pays you.🧐

You must be a stud.

Actually I was considering “identifying “ as a woman , then I don't have to pay for anything.

If that doesn't work….I'll get some gold chains , grow a porn star moustache & become a gigolo.

@Ontheroad57 lol. It was funny. We go to ABA atm and she tells all the Khmer people.

My husband néed money. I am good Khmer wife. I give him some.

of course she said it in Khmer and English. They all were laughing.

she's a mighty good woman. Love her very much.

@mpmilestogo I have not seen the option to go directly to ABA. I had to either go to Wing Bank wallet or cash pick up. What option did you choose in Xoom?

The cash pickup option will list payment through Ria and offer two banks. One is Sacombank and the other is ABA. I just chose cash pickup and then it shows the partner banks here. I had the transfer to ABA in 2 minutes and they charged me $28.  You could really go to either bank with the transaction ID and get the money. One thing I do wish is I could transfer in Xoom right to my ABA account. I transferred $6k once to a Vietnamese bank and I was able to pick the account number and stuff there. That part was easy. Getting the money out of Vietnam required some heroics and a friend to help.

Thank you SO MUCH for the information. This is really helpful to me. I am getting a little worried since I'm getting a little low on the available cash I have here in Cambodia.
