Canada Ratifies Apostille Convention May 16, 2023

Good news for our Canadian members. Canada ratified the Apostille Convention on May 16, 2023, with an effective date of January 11, 2024.

Presumably, the delay will give the Federal Government and the Provinces time to designate and train the "Competent Authorities" who will issue apostilles after that date.

Congratulations - no more requirement to legalize documents at a Brazilian Consulate in Canada as of next year.

All the best to you!  I only wish that it had happened sooner.

Provinces tend to slow the Bureaucratic slog in Canada, not for self serving means, but rather for ratification sake.

It's Canada eh.
