Retieree visa

As i understand,  youre allowed to bring your wife to Mauritius if you get a retiree visa. My question is, if shes not a retiree. Is it possible for her to get some kind of work permit, or does she need to apply for some other kind of visa, or do we need to live both on my pension, which might be possible,  but not optimal.  Also, i understand youre allowed to bring your Children,  but i guess there must be some upper age limit? The same question about work permit for your children. Ive now gotten early retirenment due to disability & meet whats needed for a retirenment visa in Mauritius.  Now, its only the small step to find a wife to go with me:). I think ill be quite independent in Mauritius since my spasticity completely goes away in a warm country & i move & walk better ( its quite severe in the harsh climate of Sweden)  However, i definitely need help to get in order when relocating & would prefere Company for safety, even though i guess thats a service that might be bought in Mauritius? Thanks in advance. / Marcus

In addition to the above, some less strict regulations were announced 2 years ago with the Mauritius 2021/2 Budget during COVID:

:

* Foreign nationals wishing to apply for an Occupation Permit to work and reside in Mauritius can do so under the three categories: Investor, Professional and Self-Employed.

* The validity period for an Occupation Permit as a Professional will be extended to 10-years.

* Foreign nationals holding an Occupation Permit as a Professional will be given the flexibility to interchange between employment opportunities without having to submit a new application, provided that the minimum criteria are met.

* Spouses of Occupation Permit holders wishing to invest or work in Mauritius will be exempted from applying for an Occupation Permit or Work Permit.

* The maximum age limit of 24-years for dependants will be waived.

* Foreign nationals may apply for an Occupation Permit irrespective of their visa category upon arrival.

* Holders of a 10-year Permanent Residence Permit will automatically be extended to 20-years.

In addition it was announced in last week’s Mauritius 🇲🇺 2023/24 Budget that RNC (Retired non-Citizens) may now purchase PDS property specifically developed for 50+ Senior Living at a minimum of USD 200 000 to qualify for Permanent Residency

(as opposed to the USD 375 000 minimum for under-50 year olds purchasing any other property in one of the IRS/RES/PDS/SCS/G+2 schemes).

Senior Living Residence

Mauritius is blessed with a warm and conducive weather for 8 months a year, along with a peaceful and harmonious environment and an ever-improving infrastructure and a competitive cost of living, which makes it a remarkable place for retirement.

— Projects being developed under the scheme (PDS for Senior Living) essentially refers to homes that cater to adults aged 50+ who are looking to live independently in a peer environment, and provide facilities for recreation and socialising, including a clubhouse, health club or gym, facility management services, focused on the needs of the elderly.

— A non-citizen retiree, i.e. aged above 50 years, can acquire a residential unit or the life rights in respect of a residential unit in an approved project.

— The minimum acquisition price is USD 200 000 and the non-citizen can choose to apply for a residence permit for himself/herself and his/her spouse or common law partner until such time the property is no longer owned or occupied by the retiree.
