Premium visa processing timeframe

Post new topic

Nessy12

Hi,

For anyone who has applied for the premium visa in 2023. How long did it take to get it processed.

I recently applied for a premium visa but it's now past the 28 days. I have tried to contact the embassy but no luck getting a helpful response.

Thanks

Hi

I have applied for one of my client on the 10th May 2023.

Trust me calling them is not useful.

I have been there twice and she got the premium visa on the 08/06/2023

Hello Nessy12,

Please call/contact the EDB : https://edbmauritius.org/contact

The Embassy is not the competent body to contact.

Hi Bhavna

Edb won't be able to help as it is PIO who gives the Premium visa.

Edb will only ask you to contact PIO.

I know well how this work as I have done several premium visa and it takes 30 days or more to get it.

And if you don't go and see them they just don't Don anything sorry to say so but this is how it is.

I applied and very quickly, within a week got an email that British we and my British kids (dependants) Premiums were all in order, but that my wife, their mother, who is Malagasy, could not apply for a Premium until she arrives in Mauritius.

I pointed out in reply that (a) She did not apply, I applied as her as a dependant (b) Malagasy only get a 14 day visa and the Premium takes longer and asked what to do (c) she would not be applying anyway for a Visa on her own even were she in MU, it would still be me applying for her....nothing back so far. Logic may not be the ally here.......

So I guess I will be having, with my wife, to visit the PIO..is it easy to get to?

I

Bhavna

Hello Peterg123,

That's a tricky one as yes, she is your dependant and will not be applying for her own premium visa and also Malagasy citizens are not eligible for the Premium visa application outside Mauritius.

Let's hope she will be linked to your premium visa as a dependant once here.

When you arrive, you should contact the EDB. They process and deliver premium visas :

You may contact EDB office on

+230 2033800 or send your query below:

The 14 days visa is granted at airport itself.

They will provide instructions whether you needs to visit PIO or not.

peterg123

Thanks Bavna...kind of you..I have picked up on here that the Edb just passess you onto the PIO and indeed it is the PIO that issues the Premiums. I am pretty sure we will end up visiting both.

We have kids entering Northfields on 23 Aug, won't be very good if their Mum is kicked out  shortly after.

Bhavna

In case she needs to go to the PIO, it is in Port Louis in the Capital city. Let us know when you get here, we will guide you (very easy was there last week ^^)

@Nessy12 Hi there, it's been 49 days and so far nothing. They emailed me and I've been to the immigration office and spoken to 3 people who told me to wait. I hate the drive there but I better go tomorrow. Something is definitely wrong.

Did you get yours sorted?

Bhavna

@crew3femme hello

What visa do you currently have and when does it expire ?

I thought they were in Ebène now ...

You can check your status, follow the steps here : https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.p … 74#5438014

@crew3femme Mine is sorted. It took about a month till I got the approvals but my wife, a Malagasy, has to apply in person. So we were  at PIO today in the Premium section. They told me they have a ` 1000 Premiums in the pipeline and that we can expect to wait much longer than a few weeks.

crew3femme

@Bhavna

The status says in processing. I've read they are short staffed. Perhaps that's the case.

September 4th will be the 2 month mark.

I go to - Passport and Immigration office, Sterling House, 9-11 Lislet Geoffroy Street,, Port Louis

Hi everyone, same ol' question ... we applied from outside Mauritius for a PV on 7 Nov and to date not a whisper so far ... any up to date reports of the timeframe as we are flying out next week. Oh, obviously phone calls not answered and E.Mails (PIO) unanswered so far.

Thanks

JJ

peterg123

Welcome to the party! Well the PV applications are many. Process time has gone from around 21 days to 6 weeks or more. But you can receive it when you are in Mauritius.

Vanessa2909

@peterg123

yes correct.

My fiance did apply for a renewal on 30.10.2023 and we did receive an answer 2 days ago in December. It now takes a few weeks.

JJ1973

We are grateful to have received our PV's (in 7 weeks) ahead of flying out but in the covering E.Mail we have been told to open a local bank account which is not a condition annotated on the actual Visa? We have been asked to submit the bank account details within 2 months of arrival.

Can anyone recommend a bank which doesn't require monthly remittances (on which we would be taxed in Mauritius).

Happy Christmas to all :-)

Hello Safwen,

Some members have received the visa in 7-8 weeks time. I think it is normal but feel free to contact the authorities to enquire about your visa.
