I am just about to cut all ties with the UK and inform the DWP (Dept of Work and Pensions) that I now live here permanently so that I then become a non-taxpayer which will save me a bit of money. Apart from that step, which seems quite straightforward, I would like to continue to have my pension(s) paid into my UK bank account and use my UK debit and credit cards as before. My question is if I do that when either of my cards expire, will they send me new cards to here in the Philippines. Has anyone here had any experience of getting replacement cards sent to the Philippines.

Good topic Findlay.

I'm an Aussie so don't know the UK law but I simply keep my Aussie bank accounts and transfer to our accounts here, not a problem in 13 years. My debit card? The new one went to my sis (my executor) in Oz, she gave me all the numbers and security code so I can use it online, I registered online to activate the card, I'm sure it will be the same process when my Mastercard expires and I'll do the same with that. Perhaps if we decide to go overseas in the next while I'll need my sis to send the card/s for swiping.

Only an observation and our experience, day to day living is cash and some bills Gcash topped up in the local supermarket, P8k pays internet, phone etc, for over 2 months.

As for credit/debit cards I always advise my bank that I'm going O/S for 40 years, no matter the country/s and never a problem.

My one time password has been sent to my PH phone number for cash transfers to our PH bank for years with no problems.

The question you raised is valid, If I want to travel (other country) then I'll need my cards, it's around 40/50 bucks Aussie for a secure delivery and only 2 to 3 days.

Good luck.

Cheers, Steve.

We tried twice to have Wells Fargo send a replacement credit card. Each time when we hung up the phone it was all set, the card was coming to the Philippines, but each time the card was sent to my US address on file instead. We gave up and I'm doing the same as Steve for my debit card. The card expired recently and the replacement was sent to my wife's sister's address which is also our US address. All I needed was the new expiration date and 3 digit code and an online activation and I had everything I needed for to update the card in the remittance services.
