Making the move permanent

I am just about to cut all ties with the UK and inform the DWP (Dept of Work and Pensions) that I now live here permanently so that I then become a non-taxpayer which will save me a bit of money. Apart from that step, which seems quite straightforward, I would like to continue to have my pension(s) paid into my UK bank account and use my UK debit and credit cards as before. My question is if I do that when either of my cards expire, will they send me new cards to here in the Philippines. Has anyone here had any experience of getting replacement cards sent to the Philippines.

My personal solution is to have a mail forwarder, thus giving me an address in the US while permanently living in the Philippines.


Before moving to the Philippines I notified all important parties of my new address which was my mail forwarder.


Some time later I notified the banks that have my credit cards that I would be using them in the Philippines.


This has been working for me the last five years. Right now I have a updated credit card waiting for me in my box at my forwarder (US Global Mail). When I have sufficient mail build up I will have them FedEx to me in a flat.


I wait for a build up because the FedEx services has risen quite fast, I think the last time was about $90 USD.


Initially for anyone setting something like this up may be the two step process for accessing your bank accounts. Each bank has it's own workaround for this problem.


When you move to the Philippines, once you establish a local bank account, you will seldom use your debit card in favor of using a company like Wise for money transfers to access money from your bank account.

Sorry Fin, I did answer some of you questions in another post and added an A4 submission for more info here for you but it disappeared, now I'm frustrated and pissed off so I am moving on.

At present I use my daughters address and she until now sent any updated credit/debit card through DHL. There is a card there right now she has tried to send by the lady in the DHL drop off centre could feel that it contained some kind of a card and refused to take it. I have looked at FedEx's list of excluded items and they don't mention credit cards.

Thinking about what you have experienced with DHL . . . . When my mail & bank cards is sent

in a FedEx flat, the flat is prepared by a US Global Mail employee, Not a FedEx Employee.


FedEx has no way of knowing the contents in the flat.

If your card companies or bank won't send to Philippines you could always send it to a package or mail forwarder first and surely they will send it here to Philippines. I have done this in the past and it all works out fine.
