I came over in the beginning of June to get married but due to the sudden demise of my girlfriend's father  and her illness. My  time is coming to an end (90) days .on August 28th

I should be getting the documents from the sworn translator at the end of the week.

My girlfriend has renewed her documents that was requested by the cartorio.

Will I have to apply for an 90 day extension or another type of visa .

Good morning.  Condolences on the death of your fiancée's father.  What a sad time to be planning a marriage.

Based on the information that you provided, you should request your extension before your first 90 days end unless the cartório is willing to marry you as soon as you have your Sworn Translations.  In that case, you can get married immediately and then apply to the Polícia Federal for residency before your first 90 days expire.

However, if you'll only be applying to the cartório at the end of the week, or even now, you should request the extension.  The cartório will probably require a 30 day waiting period between the application and the actual marriage, so your visa will expire, and then they may not marry you.

Thank you for your condolences it was very traumatic for her .

As my fiancee found him dead on his bedroom  floor.

I will be contacting the federal police this week

Thank you again

I have contacted the federal police and I have to go there on the 23/8 at sao luis  to extend my tourist visa so I can get married or is it best to apply for my RNM or wait until I got married

Thank you

08/09/23. @Major68.  You can't get a RNM until after you're married, and the cartório will not marry you with an expired visa, so you definitely should get your visa extended, unless you'll be married long enough before 08/28 that you'll have your marriage certificate by then.
