FedEx charges for mail.

Post new topic

Enzyte Bob

I use US Global Mail for forwarding mail & packages, plus as my US Address.

Just today I'm having them forwarding an updated charge card via FedEx, the charge is $87. US Global mail gets a discount from FedEx, compared to any walk in to one of their offices or agents.

I use US Global mail for my stateside address, not some friend or relatives.

(1) FedEx is a secure and timely method to receive mail or packages

(2) I like to open my own mail so I don't use a friend or relatives address.

(3) For security reasons I don't want anyone to have my credit card info.

(4) I like to keep my business matters private outside of prying eyes of a friend or relative.

(5) I like to keep the card under lock and key in my possession.

(6) When I have the card, I can use it in in case of an emergency at any terminal for purchases.

(7) Using US Global Mail's arrangement with FedEx, I can have purchases sent to me for a discount.

(8) If a friend or relative had to re-mail a package it would be inconvenient for them and more costly.

I realize others don't feel the same as me, so whatever method they use is OK for them, as they have their own reasons.

@Enzyte Bob wtf? I use USGlobal mail also. I just got my renewal card as well and the posted FED Ex fee was over $200usd, I  went with DHL @ roughly $185?

I recently had a very bad experience with DHL wherein my bank sent me a new credit card to my daughters address in the UK which she subsequently tried to send to me here in the Philippines using DHL Express. But although she added lots of sheets of A4 paper to disguise the contents and declared the contents of the package as legal documents, when it got to the main hub in the UK they put the delivery on hold because they somehow detected that it contained a debit or credit card, My daughter assures me that they could not detect a card by merely feeling or squeezing the envelope so I suspect they now scan packages for items that they deem illegal.

We did try to get them to return the package to their drop-off centre but they insisted that it should be collected from their main distribution centre which for my daughter would entail was a round trip of more than 60 miles.

So after checking the rules with FedEx with regard to transporting credit/debit cards and finding that they have the exact same rules as DHL, I eventually decided there was no point in my daughter collecting the card with a view to sending with FedEx so phoned my bank and reported my new credit card missing and had it cancelled. The cost of this debacle with DHL was around £40 and at no point, whether the package was collected by my daughter from their main depot or not, would they ever discuss the subject of a REFUND, ....... rant over

Larry . . . . After I checked off the boxes on what mail I want sent which was three pieces, it opens up a window giving you a choice of carriers and options and prices for those carriers. FedEx had two choices 3 day delivery or 5 day delivery (no weekends). The 3 day delivery was more expensive and required a signature.

So . . . .was anything else sent with the cards? and what delivery option did you choose? You mentioned posted fee, the posted fee is only an estimation. The estimated mostly has always been higher than the actual fee.

FindlayMacD . . . The packaging of my mail was done by US Global in a FedEx flat. I had no contact with FedEx, my unopened mail was sent directly to Global and it was all packaged by Global. There was no declaration of the contents. I've done this for five years without any problem. I imagine Global is sending hundred & hundreds flats each day.

Several years ago I sent my heirloom watch to my grandson for his birthday, package real nice for his birthday present, it was to be sent in a FedEx box. I used a FedEx authorized agency (Philippines). They made me unwrap the package for inspection, then placed it in their FedEx box.

@Enzyte Bob Mine was three envelopes, letter type, including the card in one of them. Actual cost $157.22 from Vegas via DHL which was the lowest cost with reasonable time. I think it was 5 day and I got it in 10? Because we're in the province, they couldn't seem to figure out the street address. Even though it's the same address we use for Lazada, Shopee, Amazon with no issue whatsoever. I actually had 5 emails back and forth and calls to Manila DHL to get Cebu DHL's third party carrier to get it handled. I suspect, that delay was actually because they only come twice per week and didn't have other stuff coming down this way, they were hoping for more product. But who knows for sure.

I looked at the DHL option many times over the years and FedEx price wise was my choice. DHL this time was significantly more expensive.
