English Speaking Doctor

Post new topic

kaththomas700

Non driving British old Biddie soon to be living in Bulgaria permanently looking for an English  speaking doctor in Kableshkovo or Pomorie all help and advice gratefully received.

PlovdivEd

I don't have a specific recommendation but this site is useful, you can book online also superdoc.bg.

I had a quick look, the nearest I could see who spoke English were in Burgas, you'll need to translate the site.

The Haeleeapp is available in English and you can filter doctors by language there.

Hopefully someone will have more specific info for you.

Thank you

Welcome to the Expat.com forum and good luck with your move to Bulgaria!

One of our regular posters (I think it's @wtruckyboy) is a big fan of Pomorie, so hopefully he'll be stopping by to advise you. I'd guess that he's already found an English-speaking doctor and dentist.

kristiann

Almost all medical professionals under the age of 40 speak English. So that shouldn't be a problem.

However, I suppose you need a certain type of doctor, which might not me the case in Pomorie. Better check in Burgas.

kaththomas700

Thank you, my village had three daily buses to Pomorie and the same number to Burgas arriving at roughly the same time to get workers to and from work .   The village does have a clinic but my neighbour doesn't use the services here and I've currently not got enough Bulgarian to know why. There's a chemist and as I'm currently overweight I can get my prescription statins from there at a reasonable price. I'm leaving tomorrow to finalise my leaving the flat then I'll be back by the end of this month for good, wish me luck please as I say I'm a non driving , non Bulgarian speaking  old Biddie.

@kaththomas700 hi, there are two doctors in Kableshkovo who are English speakers, they are in the main surgery opposite the town hall

kaththomas700

That's handy thank you .  I assume that Kableshkovo town hall is near to the library?

pomorieprincess

It is :)

kaththomas700

Thank you Princess

I hope it all works out well for you, Kath, as you make the final steps to move permanently!

kaththomas700

Thank you Jane.  But this is it rather than first steps, two or three week ready or not.

kaththomas700

Sorry Jane it's very early in the morning, yes " final" steps it is towards the big move.  Than next month it's learning the language time.

janemulberry

Sorry, we're getting off topic (as it's your topic, it should be fine!), but language learning is such a major thing!

Or at least, I've found that a big challenge. I can read Cyrillic and know quite a lot of words when I see them written, but I'm very slow learning to understand what people say and speak it myself. I spend a week there and just start to get an ear for it, but then after a month in the UK, I've lost it again!

Do you have a specific plan for the language learning, or just full-on immersion?

And how is your hubby? I hope he's now fully recovered.
