Sick plus Visa extention

Post new topic

Alenalen

My brother is about to extend his tourist visa. However he has fallen ill and unable to meet up at Immigration before his visa runs out. (His passport would allow him to extend for several months and he has return ticket and living with me so should just be a formality) . How strict are they vs deadline and should he try to get a doctor’s note he is too sick to meet up? Thanks

Hello Alenalen,

To avoid any hassle, I would suggest that you call immigration and inform them. I would also recommend that your brother visits a doctor and gets a medical certificate to certify he is ill.

Thanks. Yes I think the «challenge» many ppl have is that calling Immigration is not an easy task, mostly noone answers hence the post

Has your brother visited a doctor yet ? If he can prove he was ill and could't make it and if it is just a matter of a couple of days, it should be fine.

But they would appreciate to be informed. When you get them on the phone, note the officer's name for reference.

Thanks. Yes he has been to a doctor. Not possible to get in touch w immigration on the phone, it is a common issue as i understand (via google).
