Hi, My husband has a job interview in Kuwait and I will be accompanying him. I need to know what is appropriate to wear. A dress that comes to the knee, not below? Do my shoulders need to be completely covered or is 3/4 okay? How high up does the neck line need to be? This is a company made up mainly of expats. Thanks

Hi maxandsen,

I would say that as long as you are decent and your clothes aren't too revealing, then it's alright. I think skirts just above your knee are fine. Your can wear short-sleeve shirts but you can carry a light shawl in case you feel uncomfortable. So all in all, there isn't a particular dress code for foreigners but most expats try their best to dress modestly.

Try to bring clothes suitable for very hot weather (i.e. cottons and linens).

All the best

also, do know that you do not have to apprehensive over your wardrobe before making the move here; Kuwait is not Saudi Arabia where women are required to wear abayas (long, flowing black covers).

ofcourse, given that we are a Muslim country, that will quickly eliminate a few items, but u would be surprised as to how people walk that fine line. have a walk in any of kuwaits plentiful malls to get a hands on experience of what people can and do wear in actuality.

and all the best for your future move to Kuwait :)

Thanks for all the advice. I am sure there will be more questions to come. This seems like a great site with lots of helpful info and people.
