Hello Forum,

Hope everyone doing fine in Chile.

I want to know for how long we can stay out of Chile without losing the permanent residence. I have researched online. But, each wesite says differently.

https://www.chileatiende.gob.cl/fichas/ … e%20Chile.

The above site says its 2 years. and some other sites say 1 year.

Could anyone let me know which one is correct.

Thanks,

Uday

Hi, it is two years according to the new immigration law in February 2022.

You can stay outside for two years. However, you can extend for another two years by applying at a Chilean consulate abroad with a good reason before the expiry of the current visa.

This has changed with the new immigration law since February 2022. The duration of one year is the old rule, that is not valid anymore.
