Marriage in the Philippines.

Post new topic

yawgie

I'm a Dutch citizen and fly to the Philippines in September. What papers/documents do I need to marry my Filipina? I already got the document from my city council about my status (unmarried) and my birthday certificate in English, Dutch, French and German. What else do I need to show to make sure I'm a legit citizen and fit to marry?

Hope to get some helpful advice. Thanks already for your help!

Back in 1994, we went to the US Embassy with the above mentioned paperwork.  In addition we brought proof that we had been penpal for over two years, showing letters and pictures exchanged.  Took all of 10 minutes to get the paperwork saying I was eligible for marriage.  After we got to the province had to apply for the marriage license and wait 10 days until we could have the ceremony.

If you met her on a dating website, a letter from a Psychiatrist and approval from your guardian.

To the Op, don't put the cart before the horse, meet for a month or more and then decide, preferably 6/12 months and then decide. Marriage is not next week and a certain amount of caution wins the day, your choice as well as the old saying that we all know, fools rush in as well as walk softly.

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.

Is there not an exemption for Cherry Blossoms Bob?

yawgie - Have you met this lady in person yet and have you been to the Philippines before? Also, are you in a position to make the move to the Philippines now?

Hi, my Filippina and I have known each other for 5 years now and are sure we want to stay together. We have a small house near Cagayan de Oro and been together about 2 years on the Philippines by now. Because of the Covid lockdowns I couldn't return for 3 years now and I will fly back next Wednesday.

I have a document (uittreksel van de gemeente) that I'm unmarried and my birthday certificate. What more do I need to get married in the Philippines?

Please, my Dutch compatriots, what heb ik nog nodig? Alvast bedankt!

No rush here my friend. We have known and loved each other for more than 5 years now.

I'm Dutch and need serious advice, not for naïve beginners.

Thanks anyway.

Plenty of time together, have known each other for more than 5 years. Couldn't fly back for 3 years because of Covid lockdowns but chatted daily.

I'm Dutch and we are trying to get her Dutch citizenship, too. I'll fly back next week but have to be sure I have all the necessary papers for a marriage.

Best regards, Jörg.

Hi jörg,

I cant offer any advice here but i would be very interested in how you get on if you could update me. i visited the Philippines back in April this year to spend time with my gf (together 1 year now) and she recently came over to England to spend time here too. She returned to Ph 2 days ago and we plan to continue this 'i fly there she flies here' until im ready to permanently move there in the near future following my retirement and marriage.

Good luck

Tony

I would be interested to know about your girlfriends experience visiting England and how easy or difficult it was at immigration and any documents she needed to present when leaving the Philippines.

Hello Jorg,

The requirements can and do change from country to country.  Check with the Dutch embassy in Manila and see if they still need/require all the docs you have assembled.

Likewise, have your GF check with her local PSA field office and make sure she has the latest CENOMAR.

Be advised that if she has the Philippine Identification System Digital ID (ePHILID), via https://psahelpline.ph, an online application will work faster for her.

Later, the ePHILID will allow faster processing of all needed post-marriage documents (i.e., married name on Passport, local ID and Marriage Solemnization from PSA).

If your plans include remaining in the PI most of your marriage, review the requirements for the 13A Non-Quota Philippine spouse visa (About $150 + $50 ACRI Card) she will need to sponsor for you.  This also allows you to legally work without a Special Work Permit that would otherwise be required.

Best wishes
