Bom Dia Expat.Com!

If your Visa was up in April, but you hired lawyers in May to put through your (Permanent Residency by Spose) Visa and they supposedly contacted the Federal Police during their progress and are still working on it many months later what are the odds that the Federal Police will fine you from April to whenever?

I wanted to alert our lawyers that I am facing a massive fine if we cannot get this competed soon, however my wife reminded me of the Golden Rule in Bra\il ---"Don't Make Trouble With Brazilian Lawyers or Officials", so my tongue is bleeding because I am so anxious about this.

All I can do is post it and ask "What Are The Odds I will have to pay the fine?"

09/11/23 @roddiesho.  In principle, you should only be fined (if you're fined at all) for the time from the expiration of your visa to the date that the PF accepted your application from your lawyers.  Worst case, that fine tops out at R$10K anyway, Unwelcome and unpleasant, but not really "massive".

Your wife, as we've agreed before, is a very wise woman.  Better listen to her.  And to author Charlaine Harris:  "Don't go looking for trouble; it's already looking for you."  😉
