Hi Grace,

The most expensive land in Cape Verde is found on the islands of Sal and Boavista as these are the two islands which attract 80-85% of all the tourists coming to Cape Verde. Most are Europeans. And so many of them decide to relocate to either of these two islands. This creates a huge demand which drives up property prices (purchase and rentals).

Building new or existing housing in Sal or Boavista will run €1.000 to €1.500 per square meter. You can check out the advertisements on Expat.com to get a better idea of specific prices in Boavista.

Finally, if you are going to build from scratch, be sure to hire a reputable construction company. If you are looking to buy an existing property, contact a reputable real estate agent, or one of the property management companies that have apartment complexes in there portfolio.
