average time for residency application process?

I've already used over 30 days of my allotted 90, leaving Germany on 2 September. Would it be wiser to wait to apply (6 months from 2 Sept) to have 90 days, instead of 57?

I was thinking of returning and applying in mid November, so it would be less than 57, in that it includes all the winter holiday time and New Year's.

Would it be better to wait?
