depends on what you want to do with the property after you buy it - develop, hold for resale?? my wife and I bought land outside Bukavu, built a house and grow corn, squash, sweet potatoes, and chickens on one piece, planted cassava, corn, and beans on another. the road from Bukavu is being expanded and paved, so the drive to commute eventually will be easy for working in the city. there may be lakeside (Lake Kivu) property for sale soon when [if] MONUSCO leaves DRC. we expect the value of our property will increase substantially in the next year or two

Info4926. sorry for the late reply, I'm not getting notifications from the site, so I don't see these messages. We are in South Kivu Province, and it is relatively quiet and safe here. The active war is in North Kivu and other northeastern provinces. We are limited in our travels and if we want to go to Goma, we check with friends in the city and staff at the hotel where we stay there. My wife was recently in Lubumbashi for several days and there was also no fighting there
