I guess you mean a 1 year extension based  on marriage (to a thai)? Where did you get married? In Aus or in Thailand? This is important because of the required marriage license.

I guess you mean applications for extensions. You're not on a visa while in Thailand, you're on a permission of stay. I doubt they have "simplified" any applications.

No one is on a visa while in Thailand or in any other country in the world. This is a fact. A visa takes you to the border of a country (incl an international airport),and then it's used. The entry stamp in your passport with the admitted until date is the permission of stay. I guess no one told you. When a Thai visa was still a sticker in the passport,the first thing the immigration officer at the airport did was stamp USED on top of it. You must have missed that. I repeat, you're extending your permission of stay nothing else. And yes, I do know about this 100 times more than you. When you're saying that an immigration office has simplified applications,that shows you don't know how it works.
