Can anyone that has obtained their VISA residency with DGM solo/alone , share what challenges and successes you may have had?

1. What to do and what not to do?

2. Did anyone at DGM provide any English support?

Curious

Thanks

You did it!  Hopefully anyone who did it alone can give you feedback!

Just to clarify - The VISA process is not through DGM, it's through the Dominican Consulate/Foreign Affairs. Once you have your VISA issued by them, you can apply with DGM for residency. DGM does not handle visas!

I answered your question in the other thread based on your use of "visa." For everything with DGM, we used Lily. From our experience through the initial application and two renewals, I have seen no one there who speaks English. If you aren't fluent in Spanish, I highly recommend using an attorney! The only place we've seen a government official who speaks English was at Aduanas when we had our interview for our exoneration of import duty on our container. We were not allowed to have anyone else in the room with us, but they did have someone who spoke enough English to complete the interview.
