Top three expat communities in Salvador

trlhed777

Hey all !!!

i am soon to be an expat this summer. I have traveled to Belize, Nicaragua, Panama and Mexico. Looking for my landing spot. El Salvador definitely has my interest. Can you tell me the top three ex-pat communities in the country?

I will be planning my trip there early June

There's quite a few ex-pats in San Blas.

very surprised to see such a lackluster response to your inquiry.  One person? doesn't sound promising.

According to your time line you are in El Salvador now?  Or not?

I too am looking forward to discovering more about the surrounding colonial towns of El Salvador.  Lived in Costa Rica for 6 years and Nicaragua for over 16 years. Had to leave 6 years ago due to the Crisis and currently in the USA anticipating a return to Central America within 6-8 months.

Would like to know if you made it there , are you still there and your impressions if you don't mind sharing.

I’m hoping also to see more responses to this question as we are considering the same move. Also loved n Costa Rica 1998-2001 for post grad school but want to see if El Salvador would fit our needs. Mid70’s aged couple.

I think the biggest active communiy here are the french. There is a lot of institucions and projects from the FRENCH ALLIANCE and the French high school.

That’s interesting regarding the French expat community. What city or cities are they locating too? I don’t want to live in the main urban area of the capitol but looking for something bit more quiet but convenient to the needs a key urban area offers….like WalMart, hospital, etc.

regarding French Expats.  French Canadians or France?   I am French Canadian and would also like to know where the French Expats are congregating.

We will be traveling around El Salvador from Jan 9th - 17th. Staying in Ataco for 5 days and scouting the area out. Then Santa Ana for a few days.  Looking for a small, quaint town to spend our lives and slightly retire. We will open some sort of business after a while.

I will post a few observations while we are there.
