Hello, I'm Wayne and I would like to buy a holiday apartment in Spain. Right now it's just the start of a dream but I'd appreciate any advice WTR NIE, Mortgages, getting a bank account. I live in Ireland so it's somewhere to go and feel the sun

Welcome to the expat.com forum and good luck with your Spanish dream!

The NIE is the easy bit, you can apply at your local Spanish consulate/embassy. You do need a NIE to purchase a property (but you don't need to be a resident).

We opened a "non-resident" account at Banco Sabadell once we had our NIEs.

I'm not sure if it's super easy to get a mortgage as a non-resident. If you have cash (from savings, or from upping your Irish mortgage) it might the easier way to go.
