Hello everyone 👋🏻,

im getting married in June in Belgium to my fiancé who lives there. I got all the info on the documents I need but I have a few questions. One of the documents I need is a certificate of residence. I have no idea what that is or where to get it. Has anyone else gone through the process and needed to get this as well? The other documents I think I can get. Another one is a martial status and I saw the American embassy there can do that.

thanks 😊

I got married here in Belgium as well, my certificate of nationality was drafted by a lawyer in the form of an affidavit (he just asked what to put in that affidavit, just proving your nationality, where were you born info about your parents etc. Just basically bring your birth certificate) and then I had that document notarized by a judge and thats about to it

Or you could get married in Denmark which its one of the easiest places to get married in Europe and requires less paperwork.

Have a look at the Denmark Forum https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1054952

Good luck and congratulations on your forthcoming marriage.
