For the moderator I think

The website mentions 50 K members for Turkey, this of course is good, but I do not believe it. If I look some 20 active contributors, perhaps 1000 actively following the forum.

I would suggest to remove those who did not access for the last year (of course with the appropriate pre-notifications etc), but all these in-active members, please get rid of them if you can.

You must be really bored to notice such a thing and then waste your time writing a message about it....

But more importantly: what do you care if there are 49.000 ghosts on this forum ?

Do they bother you that much ?

And who are you to "suggest" how to run their business to the Expat website ?

Some kind of communication specialist who knows better than them what they have to do ?

"I will contribute in the future if I feel a need to, but I try to be more careful"

Indeed, but you need to try much much harder :)

BTW, how come you didn't notice that the time is screwed up on the website yet ?

Correcting that summer/winter time *** would be much more useful than getting rid of non existent users don't you think ?

Have a great day and enjoy the weather down there... Here, we're freezing :(

Hello everyone,

Please note that this thread is now on the Help us improve the website global forum.

Let us be more kind to each other here.

Your suggestions are welcome @cdw057 and we'll look into the matter @SysATI in regards to time.

@cdw057 Thank you for noticing and pointing out anything that might need double checked. And the clock thing, that's an excellent contribution, thank you for noticing and bring that to the forum manager's attention! As for the question about the number of members from a particular country, that's something that most people would probably think is an amazing figure, it's hard to fathom that there are 8 billion people on this planet! Wow! And it's only when we do the actual math that we begin to realize just how amazing humanity's situation on this planet truly is, it's truly astonishing. And the connectivity that is achieved by technology, bringing everybody closer together, is unimaginable in its scope, and power. After looking at the math it's entirely possible regarding that country because their total population is massive (nearly 100 million people) and a huge percentage of of that population is online (very rich country, very educated, centrally located between many other very powerful populations, very influential, historically rich and culturally diverse). Even to have a million persons on a popular forum such as this, which mind you wasn't accumulated overnight but well over many years, in this case nearly a decade and more, would not be far fetched. That would be roughly 1% of the population, however in reality this forum only has less than 100 thousand members, not a million, from that country and so that's less than 1% of the 1% and so, it would be strange if the opposite was true that there were less members than that on this forum. And as one who has benefited from hundreds of contacts on this site, similar to my success on other equally popular sites such as Craigslist, Fiver, and other expat forums, needless to say Facebook, Linkedin, etc, therefore I can honestly and personally say that it's pretty much guaranteed that at least that amount of visitors have graced this site at least once, long enough to sign up for membership, from that, and many, many other nations as well (the larger populations who are active online are Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Japan, France, and that's not mentioning the top largest nations such as the USA and China and India whose populations far exceed all others and so I won't mention those top 5 but will take into account that half of their populations such as China and India are not fully online yet however that is quickly changing thanks to hand held devices connecting to the internet). And to dive further into that last point that I made, about people only visiting once... all sites have their fair share of persons who visit only once, sign up, and then never return, what we often call the ghost member. The reason that doesn't matter is that these sites push the active members forward/up to the top of the feed and the less active members further towards the back/bottom of the feed. And so they're never anything to worry about. Focus on members who are active, and also sometimes you can recognize activity merely by whether or not they have a profile picture although that's not always the case, but mostly is the case. And I've found that even while a member might not be actively commenting, posting, or have a profile pic, they none-the-less will answer your messages if you contact them because they are checking their email account and most forums send a notice to a person's email account whenever someone has tried to contact them through the forum or interacted with them in any other way at the forum. It truly remarkable! Technology has improved communication infinitely! We're literally connected with the entire world now. Because scientists say that the average person influences an additional 80 people on average. And so if you only communicate with one person you have actually influenced 80 other persons, and those 80 persons have influenced 80 persons and so you'll literally touched the lives of thousands of people without knowing it. Your smile, your compliments, your actions, make a much bigger difference in the world than anyone can ever imagine! Stay healthy and happy always, my wish for you always. Lets chat anytime! -Ben :-D

@SysATI Classic!!! Thank you for mentioning the time thingy. Hahaha! Your response really made my day. Hard to find things to smile about when it's this cold in some parts of the world where I just so happened to find myself at this time unfortunately! God help us all! And I agree with you, this forum is doing well enough on its own, hard to find good forums, I'm so happy with what this one does right, I don't have time to complain about the little stuff, spilled milk and all that. Thank you for your two cents and humor, people like you keep the world on even kilter, we don't need people worrying too much, an ounce of humor goes a long way! Keep reminding us! Thank you, stay healthy and happy always, my prayers for everyone. -Ben :-)
