Hello Akeem,

Cape Verde has a very high rate of unemployment. It is extremely difficult to find a job. It is also a Portuguese-speaking country. No English is spoken here. If you cannot speak Portuguese or kriolu (the local language), it will be almost impossible to find a job here as any job openings will likely be quickly taken by unemployed locals.

The only hope for English-speakers is the tourism industry on the islands of Sal and Boavista where mostly English-speaking tourists visit. However, there are very few jobs offered there.

Good luck,

Angelo

Nobody. Cape Verde does not offer any work to foreigners. There is such a shortage of work that when one becomes available, many people flock to get it. The salary is not commensurate with the standard of living in Cape Verde. For example, for a simple worker, the union pay is €130.00 per month. To be able to live in Cape Verde a person needs at least €1000.00

Hello Kamsi,

Cape Verde is a very small, poor country. Unemployment is quite high here. So jobs are very difficult to come by. Whenever a job opening appears, it will be first snapped up by a qualified Cape Verdean.

Furthermore, English is not spoken here. The official language is Portuguese. If you don't speak this language, then employment in the construction sector or any other sector would be virtually impossible.

Regards,

Angelo

Hello Angelo.

I noticed there are high  unemployment like you said, I am a house painter also an English speaking person, I just came to cape verde currently staying in praia.  I have stayed like four months and there is no job since I came here,  and there is no money for me to start up a business in praia.  I am looking forward to move to Sal Island and check if I can get a minor job.

Honestly I did not do research about this country very well before coming.
