Hi all,

What do you think about the means of transportation in Chiang Mai ?

Is the network of means of transportation well developed?
What modes of transport are available?

Do you use them?

How much is a fare?

Are they relatively safe?

What is the mean of transportation you use the most in Chiang Mai?

Thanks in advance for participating!

The Songthews are the lifeline in the city. They are like open taxis. You can always hire a songthew for yourself alone or hop on a moving so gthew towards the direction you want to go.

All you need to do is just wave your hand to and tell the driver where you wang to go. If it is going in the same direction you can get in.

The standard fare for one ride is 20 baht. They are safe and a good fun.

Welcome to Chiang Mai. Cheers!

Yes, the songtaows are definitely the way to go unless you have your own transportation. You should never have to pay more than 20 baht to go anywhere within the city. I never use tuktuks unless I am in a rush and need to travel quickly from Point A to Point B. They are more expensive and will usually cost you at least 100-150 baht. I rarely use either because I have my own scooter, which is the easiest way to travel around the city. I have several postings about getting around Asia on my blog,
