Hi all,

What do you think about the means of transportation in Reykjavík ?

Is the network of means of transportation well developed?
What modes of transport are available?

Do you use them?

How much is a fare?

Are they relatively safe?

What is the mean of transportation you use the most in Reykjavík?

Thanks in advance for participating!

As far as I know, the bus system is the only public transportation system in Reykjavik (unless one counts taxis...)
We don't have a car at the moment, so use the bus a lot, except for when we hire a car to go out of town, or to Ikea to buy something big :). We live in 110, and there are a number of buses we can take from here to everywhere.

A single trip costs 350 ISK, but there are all kinds of cheaper multiple trip options available on straeto.is.

I find it very safe, and the buses are clean and new. Occasionally there is a drunk or crazy or bad smelling person on the bus, but that is the exception. They are also mostly on time...

They change the timetables every winter and summer, and the times the buses run are not always convenient (no bus before 12 on a Sunday morning), but it is better than nothing.
