Termination of contract by employer, what's next?

hello! After 3 years with a permanent contract, my employer sent me a registered letter about the termination of my contract due financial reasons.

Obviously I’m very demotivated and sad because I didn’t expect this, I don’t have energy to do the work the way I was doing it before because there’s no future for me there. I don’t know what to do…

I still don’t know how they want things to proceed, if they expect me to stay the whole time or if they’ll pay me and let me go. I simply cannot resign unless I have another job secured.

I have started looking for a new job.

I tried joining a union but they haven’t reached out back to me. What else can I do?

@aphxtwinHellothe same thing happened for me in November, after 3 years and a half on a permanent contract :)here is what I did, (you are free to do or not)A- the psychological part: 1- I accept this loss, I strongly believe I would have a better place waiting for me and if my current place is good it won't be terminated like this. So, it is good for me.2- use this time where I don't have a job to re-charge myself, and see what strong thing in myself to maintain and the weak point to strength it, e.g. public speaking is a weak point on me, so I will join people and intentionally speak even if I am afraid to strengthen myself. 3- determination that I want to succeed and totally forget the previous job as it is in the past. and I learn the lesson from it as life is a journey B- the practical part:1- I am not sure about your work but for me I had a 2 months of payment and I was using this time to do the above. 2- if you are in Brussels you must register in "actiris" to help you find a jobI called them and went in person: https://www.actiris.brussels/fr/citoyens/ 3- and after "actiris" you have to register in "CAPAC" for chomage allowance as you don't know how long it will take from you until you find your next job. https://hvw-capac.fgov.be/fr/mon-dossier-capac you must reserve a videoconference from now even before actiris because it takes forever to have one, I got mine end of January while I applied for it right after I lost my job. and I guarantee you when get yourself busy to improve yourself, you will find a much better job. I found a job after 3 months of termination and now at the step of paperwork, the salary is at least triple the previous one, I am absolutely not regretting this termination. plus this 2 moths gave me time to relax and enjoy the Christmas and new year like never before.  and I wish you the best of luck, you will succeedit is the successful people who have a lot of ups and down to give them time to strengthen and charge themselves.
