I am searching a lot about the naturalization and Portuguese proficiency certificate as on the Brazil government site one point says..
( Completion of a higher education or postgraduate course, held at a Brazilian educational institution, accredited by the Ministry of Education )
So recently i learned about...
FAAP São Paulo | Rua Alagoas, 903 - Higienópolis. CEP 01242-902.
Ribeirão Preto | Rua Marcelo Sarti, 100 - Jardim California. CEP 14026-290.
So they have this intensive online course and after complication they gonna certify us...
The exact words they have mentioned on the site..
( Get a certificate after the course:
The Certificate of Achievement is issued by FAAP, an Institution of Higher Education recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC), for learning CEFR A1 to C1.)
Any suggestions... Pls help I am a bit confused.
What you think about this... However very soon I am gonna visit the campus.
Hello,
I am currently enrolled in FAAP's extensive course at its Higienópolis campus in São Paulo. I have experience with online courses and have also attended "Portugues por Estrangeiros" at Mackenzie University, which is also in Higienópolis but closer to the Metro. Without a doubt, FAAP has provided the best learning experience among all the options I've explored.
Firstly, the in-class instruction at FAAP stands out with significantly more hours compared to other options—3 hours per day, 5 days a week. In contrast, Mackenzie offers only 3 hours per week, covering in 12 weeks what takes two full academic semesters at Mackenzie.
Moreover, the level of instruction at FAAP is of a higher caliber. While there are numerous Portuguese teachers available, especially online, FAAP's instructors are on par with those you would find in universities in Canada, Europe, or the US.
In terms of practical considerations, Mackenzie employs a somewhat inconvenient payment method, billing through the Prefeitura in five installments. On one occasion, I faced challenges when a bill wouldn't process, leading to a tedious process of providing my information again and engaging in several back-and-forths before the issue was resolved. In contrast, FAAP allows for a straightforward payment with options like credit card, PIX, or money. Furthermore, FAAP includes the cost of textbooks in its tuition, unlike Mackenzie where it is an additional expense.
From a content perspective, FAAP covers more material in each section, presents the curriculum in a well-organized manner, and assigns a greater amount of homework compared to Mackenzie or the online instruction I received.
Lastly, I encountered several class cancellations at Mackenzie during Feriados that were not compensated for. FAAP, on the other hand, adheres to its schedule without such interruptions. Given the significant difference in instructional hours, this consistency makes a substantial impact.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend FAAP for those serious about achieving fluency in Portuguese. The level of service and curriculum quality at FAAP surpass the other options mentioned above. Best of luck on your language-learning journey!

Thank you for your reply it means a lot. However I was looking for intensive course. On their site I saw it's starting from April 1 which have 4 levels each level have 100 hrs.
Its online on zoom call for 2 hrs which is from 7-9 pm Mondays to Thursdays which is perfect for me with working.
I am just concerned if their certificate will work for naturalization.
However I will be visiting the campus in this week with my wife.
Thank you for your advice its very helpful

It's great that you're going to have a face to face discussion with them. That's exactly the right question to ask: whether their certificate will be accepted by the Polícia Federal as sufficient proof of the "capacidade de comunicação em português" demanded for naturalization, with no further testing or credentials required.
Best of luck. Please let us know the results.
@abthree
For sure I will pass the information it's one good option for all which is quite confusing or not been discussed much.

Have you earned a degree abroad? if so, it needs to be validade through the MEC.
If it is not coming from North America, or Europe, it is probably wortless paper. Go back to school to study your subject of choice.

They're not asking about how to validate a foreign degree. They're looking for a way other than CelpeBras to prove Portuguese proficiency for naturalization.
@duzzimenino what kind of resources do they use at FAAP? i am interested in do their class but im already close to fluent…so i dont want it to he redundant for me since 3000R is a lot of money here. But i do need to tighten my speaking up considerably.
Would you be willing to message me in private and give me the 411?
@abthree GOOD NEWS FOR ALL EXPATS LOOKING FOR NATURALIZATION...
I visited the FAAP UNIVERSITY CAMPUS and the certificate they provide with a letter of us being present there for examination is valid for NATURALIZATION.
So there are 3 types of course and the cheapest one is for 3150. Its online intensive Portuguese course. I will be going for that and it's starting from April 1 and will finish on may 17. It's all online and from 7-9PM every Monday to Friday. There will be 4 levels after every level and online test. And once you finish the course they will let you know if you are prepared or need to practice more to give the test at university.
Only after completing the course and giving the test at the university they will give you the certificate and letter that you were there for the test. Which is acceptable by federal police for naturalization as the university is accredited by MEC.
I will be registering the course online and then pay the fees.
There is option to pay the fees in 4 installments but the payment only has to be through brazilian credit card...
If any one need more information. They have send me the pdf file with all the details. Just text me and I will share it with you.
Thanks and all the best for all

Got it. If they here, they need to take up schooling, There, no clue. Diploma Mill on them. That's what Brazilians do anyways.
@HighVoltage1045 I sent you a DM. On the issue of proficiency and not wanting to be redundant, they will give you a proficiency test.

The Portuguese proficiency requirement for naturalization is equally weighted between speaking ability and writing ability, so you shouldn't have to worry about redundancy if you only have speaking fluency. If you're speaking and writing ability are both strong, you might want to save the money and just take CelpeBras.
Regarding the online portuguese course from FAAP, how is the exam conducted? Is the online version is also approved for the naturalization ?
Just to confirm, for the online course also, at the end there will be an on-site exam. Is my understanding correct?
@gadil72929 there will be on-site exam after completion of the course. They will give a letter "it's like confirmation of your existence there" with the certificate and it is approved for the naturalization.
After completion of the course the level I will be certified with is A2 or B1 is it acceptable as per them it is, however they don't guarantee it. Saying depends on polícia federal
