Hey everyone,

I wanted to share with you all how I managed to learn Dutch in just one year after moving to the Netherlands in 2022. When I first arrived, everything seemed so different and learning the language felt like a big challenge. But with a lot of determination and some helpful resources, I was able to make progress faster than I thought!

First off, I want to mention that YouTube videos were a great starting point for me. I found some basic Dutch tutorials which helped me grasp the fundamentals. Hearing people talk outside also played a small part in getting used to the language's sounds and rhythm.

However, the most effective method, in my opinion, was watching movies and TV shows with Dutch subtitles. This became my favorite way to learn! By watching content that I enjoyed, I was able to immerse myself in the language while also following along with the subtitles to understand what was being said. It really made a big difference in my learning journey.

I was lucky to have access to IPTV, which allowed me to watch all my favorite TV shows, movies, and channels. I highly recommend anyone who wants to learn any language to watch their favorite shows and movies in the language they desire to learn. It's an enjoyable and effective way to pick up new vocabulary and improve language comprehension. If you're interested in getting IPTV for your home, I can help you out - it's affordable, costing me only 60€ for a whole year.

Of course, it wasn't always easy. There were times when I felt frustrated or overwhelmed, but I kept pushing myself to practice every day. Whether it was repeating phrases, writing down new words, or simply trying to have conversations with locals, consistency was key.

Now, after a year of dedication, I can proudly say that I feel much more confident speaking Dutch. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm grateful for how far I've come. If you're in a similar situation, don't be discouraged! With patience and the right resources, you can achieve your language learning goals too.

Keep practicing and never give up!

Cheers,

Yazid

Did you follow the "gemeentelijke inburgeringstraject" too?

Or did you studied all by yourself?

@Primadonna before coming here to nederland, I took Dutch language courses in a language center in my city, but only for a short period of 3 months. It only allowed me to learn some basics. but what really helped me was being able to see all the TV channels and films that I like in Dutch but with English subtitles. I took out a cheap and good quality IPTV subscription, which allowed me to watch all the channels and films that I like.

Thanks for your response, it seems you did the level A1 exam at the embassy and now you're in the Netherlands, you have to continue to study.

Thanks again for your tips, it will surely helps others to achieve their goal.
