Tourist VISA Brazilians Going to USA - Interview Process

roy_usa_2023

Hello,

Recently my fiance has started the process to procure an USA visa to come see me in the USA- she is working with a company in her city.

They mentioned the interview process for Brazilian nationals to travel to USA on a tourist visa is difficult given how many Brazilians have entered USA illegally in the past.

They further told her to lie and not talk about her relationship with me (her intent to marry me) and also that she was going with friends to Disneyland and would return to Brazil. I personally did not like hearing this.

She will go to Sao Paolo Consulate to do the interview in April.

1) What is the interview process like Brazilian nationals wanting to go the USA on a tourist visa- what questions do they ask at interview?

2) Is it true that Brazilian nationals should not mention they are dating or going to marry their American partner? (It was mentioned that citing this would mean the Brazilian national would more likely stay in USA)

Thank you in advance!

Roy

Congratulations on getting the interview - I know this can take many, many months just to get a date to go for the interview.

The key thing here is that she has to convince them that she is going to abide by the terms of the visa that she is applying for - ie the tourist visa. This means she must think like a tourist, behave like a tourist, book accommodation like a tourist, plan to visit tourist attractions, prove she has funds to support herself, and (most importantly) give every indication that she is planning to use the return portion of her ticket to come back to Brazil at that time.

As a non-American who has visited the US dozens of times, and also (albeit many years ago) ran an investment and immigration agency for people wishing to invest in the US, I can tell you that it is much, much, much harder to get into the US legally than Brazil...
