Hello Dears,

I have a RNM card with 2 years validity.

I also have CPF number and Brazilian Tax id. i Have been working offshore in Rio for past 6 years and i can speak intermediate Portuguese as well.

Is it possible for me to obtain Brazilian Passport by making some investments ?

Also, can i use my RNM card to visit other countries like dubai or europe?

Any inputs from your side will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Good morning.  No, you cannot qualify for a Brazilian passport through investments, although you can qualify to continue your resident status on that basis.  Brazilian passports are only available to Brazilian citizens.  The only way for you to obtain Brazilian citizenship is naturalization.

You cannot used your Brazilian CRNM to visit other countries, although you certainly can use it to enter Brazil on your return.  Your visa status for third countries depends on the nationality of your passport, not on your Brazilian residency.

As for becoming a Brazilian citizen, you can apply for naturalization anytime after you've been a permanent resident and lived in Brazil continuously for four years (one year if you're married to a  Brazilian), counting from the issue date of your CRNM.  Before applying for naturalization in Brazil, it would be wise to determine you home country's attitude toward dual citizenship.  If they do not accept it, then you may lose your original citizenship by accepting Brazilian citizenship.  That may be a good decision for you, but you don't want to let it happen by accident.

To become a citizen, you will need to prove proficiency in the Portuguese Language either by passing the CelpeBras examination, or providing the required documentation proving that you have successfully completed a Portuguese for Foreigners course that meets the requirements of the Law of Migration of 2017.
