With some people from Togo I start a company there, maybe move over there for some time.
A local I hired I asked to find an apartment for himself to be closer to work.
He came up with a single room apartment (not furnished) in Segme for just 80.000 Francs a month - seems very low to me - that's 150 euro or so.
It is a 1 year contract, pay up front at least 6 months - not a problem for me.
I asked for the contract; here's the weird thing; he said he gets it only AFTER the money is paid.... I'm not stupid, I'm not paying anything without clear agreement. Seems ike a scam to me, but this employee, that I (almost) fully trust swears it is 'normal'. His salary is much higer then 6 x 80.000 so I cannot imagine I am being scammed. So I think HE is being scammed! He is young so I think it is ppor judgement from his side.
What you think? If I go there I stay in AirBnB anyway, and I am not going to rent an apartment for local staff at expat prices.... But this seems very fishy to me (already cancelled it).
