Acquiring the permanent residency, a story.

Post new topic

° I was told I could apply for the Permanent Resident status at the same time as the renewal of my temporary card, saving one trip.

° I had to satisfy the official I have minimal language skills.

° I had to provide a copy of my police record.

° Six months later I received the approval letter and was told to present myself to the immigration office.

° I was given a list of documents to provide.

° To the bank to pay a fee.

° To the finance office to pay a tax.

° Back to the immigration office to present the receipts.

° They were accepted and I was told to return in two weeks to make the picture ID.

° Will I get the card immediately or have to return again? Who knows?

More than 10 steps, but I'm almost there. 😀

Are you a romanian citizen? So, everything worked ok?

I find the documentary burden in Romania (and it's pretty much the same in all Southern & Eastern Europe) onerous. The system endures b/c people are so busy JUST surviving, nobody has any time left to try to change the system.
