The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights announced on Wednesday, the 25th of April, that it has launched a hotline for anyone who wishes to report a foreigner who may engage in suspicious activity or cross-check a foreigner’s legal status in Indonesia.
According to the Director of Immigration Monitoring and Enforcement, Saffar Muhammad Godam, the hotline is available on the digital communication application WhatsApp at (+62) - See the link for the number

This is an excellent thing for expats as, hopefully, it will help weed out the bad end of visitors to Indonesia, but legal expats will be safe.

May be a good thing, but may also have an impact on expats ….

What if people (locals) start reporting you ( just out of jelousy or for some other reason)?

I hope the Immigration office will maintain their data in a right and efficient way …

I would imagine Imigrasi will have words to say to people who make false reports.

Mistakes are possible and reasonable, but malicious reports are likely to be taken very badly.

True Story

I've filed three reports on an illegal wellness retreat business without a response. I don't think they have the manpower to chase after every crime that's committed. I think they go after bigger cases that involve foreigners hurting locals. Foreigners hurting each other is a low priority, especially white-collar crime.

Quite so Erik. An ill thought out 'shoot from the hip' policy that should be binned. Some populist Indonesian bureaucrat looking for a promotion.
