Hi,

I have been away for awhile.  I just checked the status of my Residency card for the first time in a month. It says the situation is that the application was filed. Under data is says 16/05/2024.

Is this when I can pick up the card from the federal police?

I am leaving the country in 16 days. My other options is giving my wife power of attorney to pick it up for me. Is their a certain power of attorney formate I should use for that and want paper work will she need. The notary said to ask the FP about what is acceptable.

Thanks

@Canforbra Some of us have this same exact status and date.  It is not the date you can pick up the card.  That will say something along the lines of "Seu documento esta pronto para entrega". I emailed the PF  this week about this future date and they said its a known issue and that Brasilia is working with the manufacturer of the cards to fix this.  Yes, you can give your wife a power of attorney.  I did this recently with my father.   The PF has a standard form for this that you fill out and take to the cartorio to notarize.  When it's time to pick up the card, your wife needs to take this form along with some form of id.  In the SP PF, you can get this form on the ground floor towards the back where you normally would pick up your card.  I'm unfortunately outside of Brazil right now and therefore can't send you a copy of the form.  But if you go to the PF, they will give you the blank form.  Hope this helps.

@ymartinez thanks for the information.  It is a stressful time for us. You mean she needs to bring her ID with the form?

Should she bring my paperwork as well? She will bring the card to me in europe or mail it to me.

So what we did was the following:

Took the form to the cartório and got it notarized.

I then left a few copies of the protocolo with my dad

As for picking up my card, my dad is planning to take his CRNM/RNE.  They need to verify that the person picking up is indeed the person on the power of attorney. But if your wife is in the same boat as you and does not have her CRNM, she can take her passport.
