Question. Indefinite Residency, divorce and remarry?

Post new topic

GringoDoBrazil

Hi everyone.

Ive researched and found that although thee is confusion, it seems in new law (2017) if you divorce from the person in which your residency was based, you CAN loose your residency,  I think the old law was different .

My question is, if you do dissolve the stable union and enter into a new one, with someone else,  will that protect you?  Would a person have to reapply for residency ?  just basic thought says no unless you lost residency..

Anyone know the grey area explanations here and the loopholes or whatever you want to call it?

I searched cases and from what I find , ( obviously couldn't search them all ) was because of being absent.. saw no cases where residency was revoked for this example.

I know if the ex goes to PF it could start a princess but say, hypothetically that hasn't happened in over a year and you meet someone else and want to divorce / dissolve the first and enter into new stable union...

Thanks y'all!

He remained in Brazil as the wife did not make a big fuss (they had a business together), even though the justification for the visa had ceased. He then met and finally married someone else...
