Hi!

Now I am here for a week and I tried most supermarkets and small grocery stores near my flat, but I haven't found the right one till now. Fruits, bread and meat I buy on the market, but where to get the other things? there is a small tesco I went to, but he is almost as expensive as the small grocery store around the corner. There's a Coop (or something like that), quite big but also quite expensive. so where can I buy cheap? is there someting like an hungarian aldi oder lidl? (yes, I know these stores exist here too, but not near my living place). Does anyone have a tipp?

Thank you in advance!

Best to avoid the big supermarkets here if you want cheap, they are mainly low quality for high prices over here.

Try the Aldi on Tuzolto utca tram 4/6 get off at Covin Negyed.

Could also try the market at Rakoczi ter (tram 4/6), you can't see it from the inner ringroad because of the Metro 4 building works. This market has a lot of old ladies/men selling what they grow at home to subsidise there low pensions. Better to go later in the week. Also has organic cow milk (every day) and goat milk(Wed & Fri only).

Non-perishable stuff is slightly cheaper (albeit often criminally low quality) in bulk in the big supermarkets just outside town:
Cora, Auchan, Tesco, etc.

A lot of people go there once a month by car to load up on cooking oil, flour, sugar, dog food, etc.
