Is it difficult to get your Philippine wife a passport so she can travel to Europe?

Welcome to the forum.  Where is your wife?  If she is in the USA after 3 years she can apply for citizenship and then a USA passport.  If she is in the Philippines and traveling with her husband, then it should be easy to get the Philippines passport.  Traveling by herself  to Europe could be a problem getting a tourist visa and using it.  There are stories of Filipinas being refused boarding a plane because of fears of sex trafficing.  She may have to prove she has ties enough in the Philippines to assure them she will be returning.  Good luck.

If she is in the philippines, she can go to a local DFA office, subit the documents required along with a picture and it should be delivered to her in about 3 weeks. Further info is here…  https://dfa-oca.ph/passport/passport-requirements/

Regarding entry, as was already mentioned by Mugteck, thats probably the hardest issue, particularly if you are not traveling with her. For first time travel on the passport leaving the Philippines, have her at the international airport least 6 hours prioi to her flight. immigration will interview her again and compare her passport with computer files.

How do we know? It happened to us. Took so long in Manila that we missed the flight & had to buy 2 more tickets…

I’d recommend contacting your country’s Foreign Affairs office to address local entry requirements as well. you cant have  too much information!

Only an add on to the OP is once your wife gets her Philippines passport then she will need to apply for a visa to the intended country, the Philippines only has visa free entry for 37 countries and 61 with an Evisa and 126 countries that require a visa application, like Skip Scott, been there but did all the paperwork before the airport and immigration, no problems.  It truly depends on the destination. While my better half holds perm residency in Australia as a Filipino passport holder is limited with the countries we can visit unless we go through the motions and angst.

Good luck.

Cheers, Steve.

Getting a passport if she is a Filipina is easy, getting a visa is much harder.

Europe is big. If it is the European union (Schengen Country), I can tell you the way it works. As soon as your wife has her Philippine passport, she can apply for a Schengen visa. As you stated that she is your wife, I assume you have registered the marriage with your embassy and you have an international marriage certificate. So there are a lot less fields to be filled in the visa form (e.g. financial status) but she still needs a return ticket (within 90 days) and travel insurance for the time she is in Europe. The visa will be granted as she is your wife. There are only a few exceptions when the visa gets denied. (e.g. criminal record). If you are not married it gets more complex and there is a chance for denial if you cannot prove you go there as a tourist.

The more complex issue is to leave the Philippines (even with a visa) if this is the first trip out of the Philippines. She must be prepaired to go to a secondary inspection (after check-in)  to leave the country. She will have to fill in a form (who paid for the flight, how much money do you have with you, where do you stay, what is your profession, ....) and then there will be an interview with an immigration officer. So she needs to check in 3 hours before the flight to make sure she will not miss the flight.  It might be easier when you travel together  and not send her to Europe alone.

The passport is easy but getting the Shengen visa is a different story.

In case he is married with her, a Schengen visa will be granted as long as she does not have criminal records.

A flight ticket, insurance and an itinerary is still needed.
