Which Visa is for me/us

Hi All

First thankyou for any help anyone can give. And now the details

I have a Portuguese bank account and NIF. I have or will have a rental agreement from a Portuguese friend I'm renting the house from.

My wife and I are 56 and 54. I get a pension when I'm 60 that will be enough for the passive income for us both (min). My wife also gets her pension at 60 which will take us well above the minimum.

Between now and then I will have funds from UK house sale to live on and also I would like to work so I don't have to use those funds. Plan is to buy after 18 months or so , so we find the right area/house as I only want to do it once. My friend is very easy on rental terms and has rented to other non EU so knows what is required.

I have my own domestic electricial company in the UK and have been self employed for 20 years. I have lots and lots of UK electrical qualifications which I can get transferred I belive and just about everyone I've spoken to in Portugal has said I won't be short of work.

But and this is the but

What type of visa can I apply for if anyone knows. I won't have a job offer as I want to start up on my own, I will have funds and can show the date when the pension starts for me and my wife.

I have looked and tried so see what others have done but there are a lot of conflicting stories.

Any help or a point in a helpful direction would be gratly appriciated.

The D7 visa is only for passive income (pensions). In your case, I'd suggest the job seeker visa, since you still want to work.
