Visa and renting

Post new topic

Hi, guys and gals!

We are going to Phnom Penh in August, and we have made arrangements to stay in a hotel the first week.  It's planned to stay in Cambodia for 10 months.

When we come, we are getting visa on arrival. But do we then have to wait ( and stay in a hotel) until we get a visa extention before we rent an apartment? Because we don't have the extention yet? How do it best?

We have documents to show we are retired and the amount we get, translated by our government, so I'm confident we'll get the extention, but.. It's not certain before we actually have it in our possession, is it..

What's your take on this?

I guess the owners want to rent for more than a month at the time?

Thanx before hand 🙏🙏

Hello

Just see your post. The retire visa is not difficult to obtain. Good luck

Make sure you enter the country on an E-type (Ordinary) visa. $35 on arrival, valid for 1 month. The is different from a T-type (Tourist) visa.

Apply for your ER (Retirement) Extension of Stay for 12 months soon after your arrival. Most people use an agent to take care of this.

Take photos of your first passport page and your visa because your passport will be gone during the processing time. save those photos in multiple locations (e-mail them to yourself, in the cloud, on your laptop, etc.) in case something happens to your phone.

After applying you will have a receipt showing that you have applied and are waiting for the Extension of Stay, which you should be able to use to rent a place long term along with the photos of your passport and visa.
