Applying for Belgian nationality in 2024

aphxtwin

Hello ! I’ve been living in Belgium for the last 6 years. I’ve received the Orange Card for legal union on December 2019 and the F card on May 2020.

I have read different things about when could I apply. Either 5 years after receiving the Orange card or 5 months before the expiring date of the ID card. In either case, that’d be in December 2024.

I divorced from my partner but I kept my F Card with no problems, living in Ixelles.

I have studied in Belgium and I have a qualified job with a good salary for the last 3 years.

Could I apply for nationality or do I need to move to a different card first?

I definitely would like to ask at the town hall but I am a bit limited in work time at the moment.

Thank you!

I would suggest you apply for L card if you already concluded 5 years from the first card in Belgium. Then end of year with your L card apply for nationality.
