Lost job but single permit still valid

Hello everyone,

I lost my job last year in June.

I hold a single permit which will expire in 2022.

I didn't receive any letter indicate I need to leave Belgium in 90 days if I couldn't find a new employer.

Now my ID card still valid, I found a new job and last month I use it in the city hall to get the criminal and residence certificate for applying for my new single permit.

Does anyone know why like that?

Because I checked many people say it can't have a gap between two jobs, now the gap almost 1 year I'm wondering if I would get trouble to get a new work permit.

Thank you so much.

Rikkal

Hi H Triple,
I don't know how you did not receive any update on the cancellation of the permit. Perhaps, because your employer forgot to send email/cancel the permit in the Department of Work/Economy of Belgium.

I hope that you receive the new permit soon and can work in Belgium.
It will be nice if you can inform me about the status of your situation via message.
Good luck

Hi Rikkal,
Thanks for the reply.
I have received the new single permit today.
Really fast just 6 working days, Brussels region.

Great. Congratulations.

Did they notice that your former employer forgot to to cancel your application? did you apply for new single permit or renewal?

thanks!
