Flagged for overstay when boarding at JFK en route to SDQ

I overstayed in DR from the USA for 1+ year, ending May 2024. May 2024, I went back to the USA for 1 week before returning to DR via JFK. When my passport was scanned to board my flight at JFK, I was asked to step to the side. I did so, and they asked me if I had a return flight (I did), and they let me on the flight with no additional questions.

I've accidentally overstayed again by 70+ days (I misremembered and though the entry visa was 90 days instead of 30 days). I've considered flying to Puerto Rico and returning by ferry to renew my visa hoping they'll be more lax?

Any advice? I know I shouldn't have been so lax myself, but I had my dual-citizenship petition pending to be come a citizen of DR, but now it's on hold because they've discovered a typo in my US birth certificate that will take 3+ months to fix. I have to go the USA in October and I still wont be a DR citizen by that time so I'm super nervous.
