TINYTOWN BRAZIL

A Day in my life, TINYTOWN Brazil

So here’s a typical day in TINYTOWN. First of all, no need to get up too early, unless you need bread, groceries, pharmaceuticals or chicken feed. At 9AM some government offices open and the lottery office, perhaps a few hardware stores. At 10AM the Banks grace the townsfolk with their “services “, IF the Internet is working. About 11:30 things start winding down for the midday eat fest. People either head home or visit the local weigh your food joint. If you stumble into a shop between 11:30-1:30 you’re probably be asked to come back around 2pm for the answer or item you’re looking for. At 3pm all the Banks close their doors, the day is done for them. Around 4 its so hot, everyone is either home or sitting in the shade somewhere. The government  offices also close shop. At 5 the local bars start drawing the locals in, people scurry around to various bread shops for there after work snack. Kids flood the street heading home from the afternoon session of school. Smokey fires arise, leaves burning and wood fires being started for barbecue. The field workers ride into town in the back of a flatbed truck, ready to hoist a few. At 7pm the “eateries” finally open. Get there soon though, because they close about 10pm. Also around 7 the old ladies venture out for church social activities. That’s all folks, everything is closed up at 10pm. Until the roosters crow about 5:30am life is quiet and tranquil. Except for some dogs barking.

@bepmoht - you forgot about the fireflies and the Milky Way overhead. If one is lucky they might even hear a Common Potoo (Nyctibius griseus, aka mãe-da-lua, urutau).

08/29/24 @bepmoht.  As it happens, today I'm wearing my "Trabalha e Confia" shirt in honor of your state.  Espírito Santo is one of my favorites!

The place sounds lovely.... Curious - how big is the town and how do you define "tiny"?

Just as a point of reference, when I travel across the US, there are many tiny towns but if one of those has a McDonalds, then the place is "officially" considered a town.

Funny that the presence of the golden arches indicates towns with potential but it has been shown that other fast food places tend to follow where McDonalds sets up shop.

Are there landmarks that indicate that the town has reached a certain size?  Or the size is just an ebb and flow of activities?

@bepmoht, your town has a churrascaria.  Definitely a draw for me.1f603.svg1f603.svg1f603.svg

I’m old and I can walk from one side of town to the other in 15 minutes…No Landmarks besides Giant Rocks..  Definitely NO McDonalds..
