Dear,  I would be thankful if someone could tell if they were successful or not renewing their Brazil digital nomad visa for a 3rd year or more ?

Hi there,

You might already know this but first just to make sure some facts clear:

There is nothing and there has never been anything in the law (45/2021) that states you can only apply for DN Residence renewal once.

This was just some misinterpretation in expat circles when the law was first published I suppose, all these news articles always mentioned this limit but it was based on nothing concrete.

The law says that you can apply for a renewal of the residence permit "for the same time period" (which is 1 year). Doesn't say "once" or anything like that. There has never been any  comments from officials that might have given this impression or inclination either, afaik

To answer your question: Yes, there have been cases of successful renewal twice (as in, 3rd year). Source: Diario Oficial de Uniao - where all application results are published.

People could also leave after their residence ends and come back as a visitor and apply for a fresh DN "residence permit" but no reason for the hassle I guess from what we know so far.

Do let us know how it goes so we have a first hand experience here from someone. Good luck!

@rocade  Thank you so much for your help !

« Yes, there have been cases of successful renewal twice »

you mean first ID card in 2022, second in 2023

or

first ID card in 2022, second in 2023, and third in 2024 ?

@rocade also do you know a good facilitator/lawyer for brazil digital nomad visa appllication ? thx.

rocade

Hi again, yeah sure I mean the third year as I mentioned in my post: two renewals = third year

This residence permit has started in 2022 so it couldn't be any longer.

About a lawyer, this forum is the place where we've been helping each other so I never needed one, but maybe you may ask in the other threads if someone else has used a lawyer. I can't recall.

It's more or less a straightforward application process that's totally online until after your application is approved. For renewals, the documents you will need are very similar to what you have used in your original application, you can find the lists in other threads.

But just fyi, if this will be your first application, I wouldn't count on too much everything being the same after two years.

@rocade thanks mate
