If you are able to get a work pass on your own merits (which I assume, since you say you are working right now), then changing to a DP and working on LoC has many disadvantages and almost no advantages.

First and foremost, many employers do not know this possibility and thus do not consider hiring LoC holders. You'd have to convince them that this is possible and worth trying.

And, since your legal status depends on your wife and is thus out of the employer's control, they usually see hiring an LoC holder as higher risk and might thus not give you long-term prospects or career advances.

Third, since DP holders by definition depend on the spouse and his/her income, many employers pay them less.

All this is not outweigted by the advantage that an LoC holder doesn't count towards the employer's foreigner quota, does not incur a levy (these first two are only applicable for S-Pass and WP) or can be hired without Jobs Bank advertising (only applicable for EP).
