American expats - how do you think the US elections will affect you?

Post new topic

Ameerah Arjanee

Hi everyone. I’m a content writer for Expat Magazine, and we are planning on writing an article about what American expats abroad (and non-American expats living in the US) think about the upcoming presidential elections. How do you think the results will affect your life as an expat? Might it affect your decision to stay where you are or return to your home country? What are your worries and hopes? Do you think the result might affect practical issues such as your taxes, pension, or prospects for getting a visa for your spouse (if she/he is not a US citizen)? Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts with us.

I really don't think the election results will effect me at all.  From a philosophical viewpoint, I'm obviously pulling for Trump, but we've had 8 years of Barry and 4 years of Brandon and we survived.  Will Kammy and her handlers f*** things up worse?  Of course, but I don't believe she will f*** things up horribly to precipitate a civil war.

why is this post under review..... nothing bad was said nothing insulting.  Just say trump supporter.  So is this website going the fascist liberal route and getting rid of anything positive about trump? I used this website alot 3 years ago when i was looking at and then moved to Mexico.  But it has gotten worse and worse over the last 3 years.  Not even trying to hide your one sided opinion of things.  you ask for a opinion and you got one... not what you wanted so you erase it.  Just like mine will be erased so only pro liberal opinions can be voiced here.

This is a good question.  How will Mexico react to a secure border?  Massive reduction of remittances? The green agenda and the attack of the usa owned mining company that they are going to just take their port over.  Yes the only deep port not on a dock on the east side of the mexico.... sorta obvious why they want to take it... just south of cancun....

Billions of USD left mexico when the new president made sure to say she is going green which is going to hurt since we have power outages in summer because of lack of power.  Now what company is going to build a plant where they cant get power.  Yup so they are pulling out by the billions.  Now is she going to mess with the x pats who bring in millions of usd each year?  I hope not but if she does we will leave and others will too.  And now she lost more money.

Billions in remittances are gone... billions in business investments are gone... now she could mess up and cost them the millions of usd that x pats bring in.  The investors are all putting Mexico in the sell category.   She needs to do more than just say ohh I won't hurt business she needs to have actions proving it.  And green power which hasn't worked anywhere in the world outside of nuclear power.  Me and my wife are just hoping she leaves us x pats alone.  But if she comes after us we leave and take the thousands of usd we spend a month with us.  Lets see if the Mexican govt thinks about that before they start any attacks on us.
