Consequences of Trump as US President.

Post new topic

Fred

More accurately, a pending conviction from a kangaroo court.
- @danfinn

A kangaroo court?

That's probably the single most dangerous thing I've heard from a Trump supporter ... at least as far as US citizens are concerned.

By extention, everyone convinced under the same court system must be declared innocent as the court is illegitimate.

"More accurately, a pending conviction from a kangaroo court. You should hope this never happens in the UK"

I spent a couple of years working in the Arabian Gulf in the eighties and many Brits were extremely defamatory of their place of birth. Most of them returned to Blighty. Yes every nationality have their gripes about how their nation is run and how the 'roof is caving in' . Often like many 'expats' on this Forum (yes Yankees & Limeys) its often a way of justifying their chosen place to live and all the crap that comes with it. This is a Philippines forum - there is so much crap that expats have to put with in the country. Two big & valuable contributors to this Forum have stated in no uncertain terms that it is a 'Hobsons Choice', one out of financial necessity and one out of commitment to his partner which I respect.

The 'growing leftist influence' that you refer to in the UK Labour party has been ameliorated to a great extent over the last few years. My belief unless Mr T splits your nation in two permanently is that the USA will eventually reset to the staus quo without the combative, divisive, points scoring culture that he has brought to your country of birth ( a great nation) for his own selfish ends.' ITS ALL ABOUT ME STUPID' .Sorry Dan I used capitals there. Forgive me.

There is some irony in the fact that the Dans and others who voted for Trump won't be directly affected because they are in their dotage and a 'I'm alright Jack' attitude to their mother country 'lets just watch the pony show from the sidelines and have a good laugh.' ( dare I admit it but occasionally to his credit Mr T does make a funny gag which most politicians, particularly our beloved PM in the UK are incapable of)

If every expat in the Philippines won the proverbial lottery tomorrow  it would be, with a few exceptions, 'would the last expat to leave this country please turn out the lights.' Where would they(with their Filipina GF's) go?

No the above will never happen in the UK because our judiciary is the envy of the world. Our judges unlike that ELECTED lot in the the US supreme court are totally impartial. Our legal system has developed & evolved over common law through the centuries. This is manifested by the fact that  so many countries & international corporations choose to have there cases heard in UK courts.

(1) Rapist -

I'm unsure - Sex offender and sex pest - Definitely

(2) Nazi

Not at all - He has his own style of racist stupidity
(3) Dangerous with the Nuclear Foot

I'm less than comfortable knowing a madman has control over nuclear weapons
(4) Threat to Democracy

Well, he tried a coup last time
(5) Will be a Dictator on the first day

No, but he will very likely try to be in years to come
(6) Russian Asset

Possibly. The NRA did fund his first campaign using Russian money
(7) Prosecute political opponents

If he gets the chance, I believe he will at least try
(8) Will refuse to vacate control of the Government when term is over.

History might well repeat.

(6) Russian Asset

Fred: Possibly. The NRA did fund his first campaign using Russian money

The NRA did not fund his campaign but did receive $2500 in routine payments from Russian/Americans for membership or magazine subscriptions. So that $2500 swung the election to Trump?

There are so many Americans here in Philippines and I think that the majority of them vote Republican and therefore vote for (or support) Trump, but how many of them, (And I'm talking about the ones who live here in the Philippines permanently) have really considered how his policies and general worldly political outlook may affect you.

Disagree. More than half of US expats here are flaming liberals. I don't understand why but that is my impression. By the way. There are probably more euros and ANZ here than Americans.

He is not going to oppose China's expansionist policies and as sure as eggs are eggs he will vastly reduce the aid the USA sends to the Philippines and he will obviously try to restrict immigration for Filipino's trying to go to the United States whether on work, Fiancées or marriage visas.

BS. If anything he will increase US involvement and is extremely opposed to China expansionism. Where do get that?

He never said anything about intervening in Filipino immigration to the US any more than South Koream or Maladian immigration. There are an estimated 300k Filipino illegals in the US. He will go after known criminals and illegals who were deported by a court of law and refused to leave. In your country, do you support illegal alien criminals, or those who were ordered deported but refused to leave on their own?

In short (in my opinion) he will try to separate the US from the rest of the world and that will start by him breaking away from NATO, just as Putin wants him to do.

The rest of the world like will no longer have free reign to do things like tax our auto exports at 100% like UK and Eu while we have zero tariffs on you. Trump will.reciprocate and I really support that. Your countries have already separted yourselves from us with your unfair tariffs and if Trump completes the job with reciprical tarifs, it doesn't hurt us.

NATO has long outlived it's function of containing the Soviet Union. You euros allowed yourselves to become dependent on Russian energy. So, what is the purpose of NATO? The EU region doesn't even pay the proper NATO dues because they hold the alliance to such a low level of importance. Russia cannot conquer Ukraine yet they will take over Europe. Sure thing. Only Trump can and will prevent an escalated global war.

I believe that when the consequences of this vote this all plays out, this will eventually go down in history as a very sad day for America

Your confidence in the American voters is appreciated lol. When the "Very sad day" for the UK comes along again, guess which country it will be who rescues the UK (again)?

Fred, would you really have voted in "woke" if you were American? You would have hated Trump so much that you would vote for men to play in women's sports and join them in locker rooms? You would have voted for trans operations mutilating children who cannot possibly be expected to properly decide on having sex change operations? You would have voted for in incoherent woman who could not answer serious interview questions whose admin is now intent on starting WWIII before leaving office. In that regards,  it just may be the case that the world will "rue the day" that the DNC stole the 2020 election. Fortunately they couldn't get away with it twice.

The truth is if a Ham Sandwich ran against Harris, on January 20th a ham sandwich would be sworn in as the 47th president.

This election was not about  Harris vs. Trump, it was about Trump Haters voting against him.

Biden was showing signs of cognizant problems even before the 2020 elections. The swamp deserves what they got with their 2024 fiasco.

So the Swamp chose Harris, the only candidate that could NOT beat Trump.

That's the problem. For some reason, foreigners here believe they have some special right to criticize US domestic affairs the same as natural born or naturalized US citizens. They don't. Apparently, politics in their countries is relatively inconsequential (not my problem) so they turn to US internal politics to try to make  significant commentary to the restvof the world. However, they usually have incomplete information and/or are extremely misinformed and I believe that characterizes virtually all anti-Trump foreigners in this forum. They are also anti-Trump because it is impermissible in their homogeneous-liberal societies not to be. Can you imagine how fast Fred would be csncelled by his liberal foreign friends  if he supported Trump for any reason? 😆

It is obvious why foreigners take a keen interest in American politics, it's the old saying "when America sneezes the rest of the world catches a cold" and with Trump in charge that cold might well develop into pneumonia.

Fred

Can you imagine how fast Fred would be csncelled by his liberal foreign friends if he supported Trump for any reason? 😆 - @danfinn

I have no 'liberal' friends, foreign or otherwise.

My experiences with the radical left have been less than pleasant so I avoid people as soon as they spout their rubbish.

In EXACTLY the same way the far left rant on about how facist you are if you don't subscribe to their idiocy, Trumpets push a picture of you as a raving communist if you express anything but a god-like love for Trump.

The idiocy from both lots is stunning.

Again, if I may express my extremely humble opinion, a political leader's job is to do the best for his people and country, not to damage them for his own ends.

Trump's agenda is all about Trump, so Trumpets are being very foolish.

Trump was told to sod off by mainstream politicians. That set a ball rolling when countries realised they didn't have to doff their caps to the US anymore.

Biden stole Russia's money, so a lot of countries are de-dollorising at a far faster rate than they would otherwise have done. Trump's threats might very well accelerate that.

I believe the US will come to regret their votes, as will much of the rest of the world.

@danfinn the left invented cancel culture which will hopefully be wiped out by the new administration. If you don’t agree with them they will castigate you socially, get you fired from your job, and jail you if at all possible under false charges!  Sound familiar anyone ? Quite similar to what the communists have been doing in China for many generations.

vanvalenmikevan

@FindlayMacD

It is just an opinion speculation so my thoughts are:

He will work on the best interests of citizens and the economy at home. He will fight China in everyway possible. During his last administration he worked with Duterta to help against China.

My wife notes the Philippines prospered during the time they both served their nations.

The Philippines has internal issues like corruption and education that go beyond what Trump can do. He has similar issues here to root out.

As I am in the IT field I don't see the need for immigration from any nation unless it serves the best interest of our citizens. I have personal experience with my wife's extended family immigrating here in needed professions.they and we send money home to the elders for support. (Only the elders).

I think over the next year we will see a positive return to values which benefit a civil society locally and globally.

Only time will tell.

Fred

What military threat does China pose to the US?

I'll save you looking - None.

This is where expats all over Asia might well suffer from Trump. He's as thick as two short planks so might very well trigger at least a local conflict.

Given the US is building up aggressive forces all over the region, including in the Philippines, a lot of expats might very well find themselves dead.

I would suggest the greatest danger is an accidental conflict probably caused by a US warship  getting too close to a Chinese base.

Are you in any way serious and if so informed? China poses the largest threat to the PI, Taiwan, Japan and many other nations.  They have one of the strongest militaries in the world with almost unlimited manpower. They are an economic and military superpower. The US and it’s allies must show strength in Asia and other regions across the world. It’s the only thing holding back China.

I suppose that is as good a reason as any to excuse that crude practice of insulting Americans to their faces at every turn, in forums such as this where Americans participate. Our population is less than Europe's yet we attract the most negative amongst them like a magnet, possibly because our high productivity results in much higher economic, Military and political global impact than their sedentary countries. And we say nothing to insult their leaders. Looks like that liberal upbringing needs some improving. And with Trump, they are forced to compete with each other to come up with the lamest insults they can think of. The pneumonia one typically bespeaks a rather mediocre IQ on the part of people who simply repeat liberal narratives like the good soldiers they are and never, ever inject creative political thought on their own. I keep estimating their IQs on these threads as 85-95. Ie low normal.

That's because the US has invaded more countries, removed more democratically elected governments, and killed more people than any other country in history.

Add today's situation where the US is trying to get puppet governments into SE Asian countries in order to stop China's economic advancement, and you have to expect a few negative comments.
